PRECAUTIONS
Before using any new cosmetic product, it's essential to take the following precautions:
- Patch Test: Always perform a patch test before full application, especially if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin. Apply a small amount of the product to a discreet area on your cheek or jawline and wait 24 hours to check for any adverse reactions (redness, itching, breakouts).
- Avoid Contact with Eyes: Take care to avoid applying the product too close to the eye area.
- Check for Allergies: Review the ingredient list carefully if you have known allergies to specific oils, silicones, or cosmetic ingredients. Note that both product lines contain fragrance ("(Daily Use) Fragrance").
- Hygiene: To maintain product hygiene, ensure your hands and face are clean before application. Using a clean makeup brush is more hygienic than using fingers directly from the pot.
- Discontinue Use if Irritation Occurs: If you experience any irritation, itching, or breakouts, discontinue use immediately.
- Specific Skin Concerns:
- For Acne-Prone Skin: Be cautious with the Glazed Balm. The richer, oil-based formula (containing ingredients like Octyldodecanol and Isononyl Isononanoate) has a higher comedogenic potential and could clog pores for some individuals.
- The Matte Balm, being silicone-based, is generally better for oily and acne-prone skin, but you should still monitor your skin's reaction.
- Lips: If you experience any tingling, dryness, or discomfort on your lips, discontinue use.
- Storage: Store the product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the integrity of the active botanical ingredients (like Apple Seed Oil and Vitamin E). And always keep the product away from kids for safety.
HOW TO APPLY
For the CHEEKS:
- Glazed Balm (for a Dewy, Fresh Look):
Prep Skin: Start with well-moisturized skin. The balm applies best over hydrated base.
Pick Up Product: Using your fingertip, a stippling brush, or a dense synthetic brush, gently pick up a small amount of product. Start with less—you can always build up.
Application:
Fingertips: Warm the product between your ring finger and middle finger. Gently press and pat the product onto the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards towards your temples. Avoid rubbing, as this can disrupt your foundation underneath.
Makeup Brush: Use a stippling motion to dab the product onto the skin for a seamless, airbrushed finish.
Blend: Continue patting and blending until there are no harsh edges. The goal is a natural, skin-like flush with a dewy glow.
- Matte Balm (for a Soft, Blurred Effect):
Prep Skin: Can be applied over bare skin or foundation. For oily skin, prepping with a primer can enhance longevity.
Pick Up Product: Use a fingertip or a dense, flat-top kabuki brush. The velvety texture works well with tools.
Application:
Fingertips: Dot the product onto the cheeks and quickly blend with a tapping motion before it sets.
Makeup Brush: Swirl the brush in the product and then stipple it onto the skin. The silicone texture allows for easy blending without streaking.
Blend & Set: Blend thoroughly. Because it's matte, it sets down more than the glazed version. You typically do not need to set it with powder, as that would counteract the blurring effect.
For the LIPS:
- Glazed Balm (for a Juicy, Plumped Look):
Prep Lips: For a smooth application, gently exfoliate your lips if they are flaky and apply a light lip balm beforehand if needed.
Application: Apply directly from the bullet or with a fingertip. Glide it across your lips for a sheer to medium buildable wash of color.
Finish: For a more intense "glazed" effect, apply a second layer. The glossy finish will naturally make your lips look fuller.
- Matte Balm (for a Velvety, Modern Look):
Prep Lips: This is crucial. Ensure your lips are well-exfoliated and moisturized. The matte formula can cling to dry patches. Let your lip balm sink in for a few minutes before application.
Application: Apply directly from the bullet. The precise tip allows for easy application. Start from the center and move outwards.
Blot & Build: For the most long-wearing and true-matte finish, you can blot your lips with a tissue after the first layer and then apply a second thin layer. This helps to lock in the color.
Pro Tip: Create a Monochromatic Look
For a cohesive and trendy makeup look, use the same shade on your lips and cheeks. For example, use J01/M01 Flipped Almond/Apricot on both features for a warm, peachy tone, or J02/M02 Tipsy Burgundy/Claret for a unified berry flush.
